Soft Statements: The Suede Takeover

Suede is making its way from outerwear to full looks, and if there is one thing we have learned from street style, it is that this fabric is not just seasonal — it is a wardrobe essential. The rise of suede matching sets, midi skirts, and structured dresses proves that this luxe texture is built for more than boots and jackets; suede is taking over.

Last month on Instagram and TikTok, we talked about Mocha Mousse being Pantone’s 2025 Color of the Year, and suede in rich, earthy tones has been dominating runways and closets alike. This fabric molds to the body, moves effortlessly, and gives any look a sophisticated edge.

If I had a time machine to the early 2000s, I know I would find suede pants in every R&B music video. And let’s not forget our favorite suede-trimmed blazers and fringe bags that defined that era, as well. Fashion is cyclical, and suede is stepping back into the spotlight with a refreshed attitude. Wear it in a way that makes sense for you.

It is only right that I style four different suede items from JW PEI, putting my spin on this fabric. It is unexpected and exciting—the only way I know how to fashion!
